Heart and Hand

Before the internet I probably wouldn't have been aware of many goings-on north of the border, even less so anything to do with football, but I have been following with interest the case of Heart and Hand vs The Daily Record.

Long story, but Heart and Hand became the 'preferred media partner' of Rangers. It has one employee but blog / podcast content comes from fans. Allegedly because of H&H's new status, the Daily Record did some social-media archeology and dug up some off-colour tweets by a couple of presenters: cue a massive outcry about "hate-crime" in the Daily Record and a report to the Police. The presenters apologised and resigned. You don't annoy Rangers' fans: they went through all the tweets by the journalists of the Daily Record and found various of a racist / sectarian nature, calling-out the journos. Even fans of (ahem) 'the other team' helped with the digging.

Head and Hand's subscription levels went up by 10%, their Patreon contributions by 40%.
