Heated screens - auto on? |
|
Since the weather has turned a little colder recently I've noticed a strange thing with the heated screens. Occasionally, both the front and rear heated screens automatically turn themselves on when I start the car in the cold, (even when not needed). Is this normal behaviour or has mine just developed a personality? I can turn them straight off again but it's getting annoying now.

Just looked it up in the pdf manual I downloaded and found the following.
Quote:The screen heaters will be automatically switched on if defrost mode is activated or if the external air temperature is low.
Think its a good idea myself.

Yes, comes on when outside temp goes below 5 degrees.
It is a good idea. Only thing is, if screen is not covered in ice or outside moisture when they turn on, the inside of the screen can suddenly mist up before the air-con has had a chance to circulate properly, if the heated screen comes on too! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Thanks everyone for the reassuring replies... glad it's not just mine. Not sure it's such a good idea if you're only doing short trips though - must put an extra strain on the battery in this weather?

Have you noticed that you get a heat haze through the front screen. The first time i saw it i thought my eyes were going funny. Until i noticed the heated screen had switched its self on.
