Heater takes forever to warm up

subject vehicle is a 2008 4.4 HSE, we used to have a pair of them and noe we've trimmed the herd as the wifely one bought a new Bronco Sport.
Compared to the other one, this one takes ages to get any good heat out of the heater. It's kind of an issue right now as the local temps are getting down close to 0F or -18C and I find that I am wearing my hat all the way to work these days and I know they are better than that.
I did have a coolant seep at the bleeder that turned into a helluva leak when I had the nerve to actually touch that tee and it exploded with coolant everywhere.....it's been replaced with a Home Depot brass assembly, I belive the air has been purged and it wasn't heating properly before all of that.
Is there a calibration of some kind? I have the Gap tppl at the ready, and when I monitor the temperature it reads in the 185-190 F range and stays steady there, which should keep me a bit warmer.

Also-for some reason I cannot find the heated steering wheel thread. I'll be driving this one for a while and the Bronco has a heated wheel and I think I need one too! Is it still on this site, or am I blind?

Search the forum for "heater matrix" which is the unit behind the dashboard.

There are lots to read on the subject.

Not saying that is your problem but air lockings/bleeding seems to be an issue for some to resolve.

This may help ................. I'll get my coat Thumbs Up

Just to be clear - you’re saying it takes very long for the heater to warm but do you really mean that it takes very long time for the temperature gauge to reach normal operating level? The middle, I mean? IF that is the case, the problem is most likely the thermostat or an airlock. If that is not the case and the temperature needle reaches centerline “fast”, do you get hot air from the RH side of the dash and cold air from the LH side?

If it takes a long time to heat up then it is more likely a thermostat problem, missing or stuck open.

The engine gets to temp as normal, the air from the vents doesn't get very warm. Neither side seems to work like the other LR3. According to the live values from the Gap it's reading as it should, like 185-195.

Okay.

So, in your opinion the vehicle reaches operating temperature within a reasonable time as shown by the instrument panel engine temperature dial being horizontal.

You also state that NEITHER side blows warm air when engine is at operating temperature. What happens if you 1. press econ, 2. turn both temperature setting dials all the way to the right (max heat) and 3. blowers on full, 4. select cabin (not screen or footwell) as destination?

Do you get roughly an equal amount of air from each outlet? There should be four outlets in total. See a post on another forum on running self-test on the blower doors https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr3-28/l...lem-39871/ (in the middle of the thread).
