This fault has appeared a couple of times to me and my MY2010. Is there an explanation/solution yet?

Hesitation.

Just to resurrect this topic, Saturday 17th. just gone, nice hot day, hot engine, my MY2012 March. D4 HSE when trying to pull away from junction or roundabout, previously stationary, went into crawl mode, no warning lights or anything else, then suddenly took off like a rocket. Has there been any update from Land Rover on this please? Yesterday there was no problem at all, really strange.
I remember reading on one similar topic that sometimes your shoes can touch the brake pedal. In view of a possible brakeswitch problem, is it possible that the brake light could be slightly operated thus causing the problem? If that is possible, without grinding the edge off the pedal, is there an adjustment to provide a tad more clearance. Saturday, wearing trainers, Sunday desert boots. On both shoes you can see where the edge of the brake pedal is making contact. Cheers Guys, Lukey. Confused

just make sure your shoe not catching the brake pedal with your foot.the slightest touch of the pedal tells the computer you are deciding to brake..so the engine shuts back.the delay or hesitation then appears.
been there done it

Further to my last post, pm from JLR they are no longer monitoring these problems. MY12 now booked in at main dealers to sort. Assured that my car has had NO software updates and that despite no warning displays the intermittent faults will still be picked up and relevant software update applied. I'm hoping this will fix problem, will let you know.

just make sure your shoe is not just touching the brake cus it will kick the aceloator out

Thanks for that GG. I should have mentioned that the missus is now getting same problems, 32K on mileage, could be age related, either our age or car. Seriously it is, although very intermittent, when it occurs has so far been embarrassing, safety wise it still is because instead of driving as per normal, everything has to be allowed for the dreaded crawl, otherwise we may get the dreaded T bone, not nice. The car is making us seem like slow senile idiots but, safety first eh. Thanks LR hope you fix it.

Interesting; a friend with a 2012 RRS has a similar problem; run up to a junction then go to pull out and....nothing until he either kicks it down and it rockets off, or uses the paddle shifts (usually with some comment like "f***ing go"). He had thought it is simple turbo lag, but perhaps not.

forgot I had started this thread

the guy I work with has since sold the D4 & bought a Q7
primarily because of the hesitancy issue

but I am surprised that the last few pages have vehicles still under makers warranty.....if it were none it would be back at the dealers until it was sorted....LR ought to be polling customers & sorting this
my old D3 is on the button as regards take off from a stop...

I just wonder why some have the issue & some dont ? is a batch issue or a specification issue ?


I won't mention the thing / device that lifts the vehicle if you have to swap or remove a wheel thread as mentioning safety seems to be an optional consideration on here (which to me is nonsense)....
quite clearly the hesitation is a critical safety issue that sadly someone will get hurt with.

I don't have a great deal of faith in LR dealers when it comes to warranty issues; there seems a distinct unwillingness to deal with anything that might involve cost. Call me cynical, but I would be interested to hear how many faults can miraculously be fixed once the warranty expires.

Not a lot of help in this case but for the future according to today's Sunday Times Driving supplement, the new UK Consumer Rights Act will give a customer the right reject a faulty car within the first six months of ownership after just one faulty repair - that should concentrate LR minds!!

Sorry Guys, mentioned this on another topic but forgot to add it here, car went into main dealers on 6th. June, had 2 software updates and new brake switch, so far the box is performing as it ought to, no problems and a lot crisper, all under warranty with car wash and vacuum thrown in plus Jag XF courtesy car. Brilliant service. Interesting that the Jag had same box and showed signs of hesitation also, dealer informed apparently also due for update at their Jaguar dealership. Interesting.

Took my 2012 D4 to a dealer for a service and told them about the big hesitation when accelerating away from slow speed, typically when entering a roundabout. Bulletin LTB00369v2 applied. Hesitation improved significantly.
