So digital, how did you do this? I tried to do this on purpose (wanted car to warm up whilst in the house) but the spare fob wouldn't lock the car with the engine running.

Story goes - Started the car with the key in with heater on full and started to load the D3 on our driveway.

Tailgate microswitch was frozen so we couldn't load the boot and at that time had only one keyfob as we lost the other before xmas.

So using emergency tailgate release going in through passenger door pressed 'unlock and lock' buttons together which half popped the tailgate. Shut passenger door messed with ice in microswitch and banged tailgate shut. At this point I found that the D3 was in lock down and still running. Evil or Very Mad

What must have happened was that when I pressed unlock and lock I must have pressed lock either last or first so when passenger door shut the D3 was fully locked as if from inside.

Anyway LR assist were poor again - no resources was the answer so have to send AA.

Rang LR Dealer (Lakeland) who were shut so rang DP on mobile and he suggested a few things and tried stuff on his D3 so to be fair he was excellent as usual Thumbs Up

In the end (after 1hour running) we found the spare key fob in a football boot! and then opened door using the actual key as the key fob didn't work either.

Strange how one of the first things I did was ask for Help on here after I had called LR assist - so thanks but it nearly was a brick through the window!! Thumbs Up

I'm sure the AA would have got into it with no problem , after all they do have upto date info on laptops , a technical helpdesk as a back up and all the LRA Guys mobiles so would have thought no issue there Thumbs Up

had exactly this in work, Thrifty Hire Car came in wondering if we could help - a women had locked the keys & and baby! in a mk5 golf Shocked

ive got a snap on break in kit that is excellent, however she had managed remote deadlock it, so that rendered it useless, she was starting to become very aggressive so we just broke a window & made her pay for the damage Rolling Eyes

with clifford alarms with RPM locking, ive seen (and done) people jumpstart another, rev the car from the throttle body and *clunk* doors lock, keys in car, engine running Embarassed ahhhhhh! s**T!

glad your situation ended better! Thumbs Up

IIRC the key fobs are disabled when a key is in the ignition ...

More then likely after you hit the door lock and got out and closed the door. The door didn't close all the way therfore not activating the safety unlock.

All you have to do is bump the door so it will close all the way and the safety unlock will unlock the door.

Give it a try and you will see what I mean, you can not lock the car, then close the door all the way without the safety unlock engaging on the same door.
