Hi guys hope someone can help me here I've searched everywhere for answers and just not getting anywhere with my lr3 o5 hse and wondered if anyone had any idea on what’s going on !?! so last week my radio and sat nav just stopped working. you could see a slight green light flashing from inside the radio unit since then I have done a hard reset and nothing much changed other than the light has stopped flashing. Ive since then done some investigating and it seems that fuses f37 and f38 in the fuse box don’t seem to have any power what ever I do. I have read about infotainment r242 causes f38 to power up but yet to find any info on where said relay is and how to check it out, if its R5 in the fuse box then im not sure it is at fault as I’ve exchanged it with the cigarette relay above it as they show same part numbers with no luck. any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

The head unit commands that relay to power up
So if no activity there it’s prob head unit related

Thanks for your reply Pete, so would I be correct in saying that the command to open relay r249 would be sent through the canbus then ? Have looked at wiring diagrams and don’t see a signal wire to activate it.

the thin blue wire out of the headunit activates it I believe
Don't know if high or low activates it

Not sure where you've found R242/Fuse 38 etc - see PDF below for the 2005 wiring diagram.

on the 3rd page.....
Sorry, it's a Red/blue wire (going low/gnd) that activates the relay, and then powers up the blue wires
fuse 53, 58

Thanks again I’ve ordered a replacement head unit now so fingers crossed. That r242 was a typo meant r249 and it’s fuse 57 and 58 that are lacking power on mine not 37 and 38 (was a long day yesterday) Will confirm if radio works when replaced hopefully might be of help to anyone with the same issue
