Ok.. so it looks like I'm on the way to a solution...

Picked up a new lock and key set from Australs today.... just have to remove the old one (drill out the pin) and fit the new one... and then rivet the key to my forehead so I cannot lose it!

The surf lifesavers hut is gone ....... removed tuesday morning after foundations washed away.

The stinger net is gone ....... wound in sunday ....... and washed away monday .

Looks really tropical now ....... without all the installation rubbish........ Rolling Eyes

The palm line held , so the pavement is still ok.

Don't think there is much damage at Port ....... not so flat at Cairns.

Hi Neil... yes I will keep it with the main key.. just need to get a small ring to connect it... no normal key ring fits the LR design. Even the Land Rover alloy key ring that came with the car wasn't connected to the key.

At this stage I'll probably be in Cairns in June/July.. might see you for coffee!

Cheers

United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Java BlackDiscovery 3

Hi Everyone,

Hope your all well, I am new here and I too need help with my towbar (Discovery 3 SE, 2005), I bought the car last Sunday from a dealer in Bristol, however they never had the key to remove the towbar! When parked on our drive there is not too much room to walk behind the car and I am worried that someone (my wife!!!!) will walk into it. Would it be possible for someone to please let me know how to remove it. I hope to get a new lock in a couple of weeks but it would be nice to remove it sooner rather than later!

Cheers, Ian

Mate.. I have a friend who was a copper in Canada. He had to sometimes get a body out of a locked boot. His way (and it worked) on the Disco tow bar is as follows:

Anyway , EVERYBODY knows this stuff from forums around the planet . There's
no secret to it . My question is : Why don't you remove the tow tongue( with ball ) and
then the hitch is inside the body-line profile ? Confused I leave it all there to keep cars off
