Help needed - car wont lock |
|
Just had panic call from daughter who is using the D3 today as snow really bad. I am stuck 25 miles away and cant get back.
She says that when she tried to lock the car from the fob the horn beeped. she tried the door and then the alarm went off with the door opening, ie it doesnt lock it.
Any thoughts as she cant leave it to get to work.
Thanks in advance.

I haven't got the manual here nor have I had this happen, but isn't it possible to over ride the locking sytem using the key in the passenger door? As you slide down the banister of life

Thanks.
Will get her to get some and see if she can find the sensor -
She has been allowed to park in front of reception until she can sort it so hopefully nobody will nick it. D4 HSE - Aintree Green

that shouldnt stop the doors "locking" though - even if a door is on the latch , it will beep but lock the doors.
sounds like something more.
try restarting the car and then shut off and try again
EDIT - if she is no parked outside reception, looks like she has already tried this with no success Duncan

If you lock with a door partially open it will beep, and then beep again every few minutes until you fix it. As above, it's going to be one of the doors not fully shut. If she gets in the car, closes her door and starts the engine, the info screen should tell her which door (or bonnet or tailgate) is open. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Alarm/ Door not locking - DOH |
|
All, thanks for the quick responses.
IT WAS A DOOR partly open.
She should be blonde. She is now suitably embarrassed.

Just like to say tho that this forum is a real bonus for things like this and the responses so quick.

Which, the beep every few minutes or the message on the screen?
Mines and 08.5 so has the later instrument pack - perhaps other changes too? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Seems like it was a bit of user error - muppet hadnt shut the back door properly when she got the snow brush out.
Also she tells me the drive in to work was eventful as both front and back Parking Sensors going off. She has now been told to clean them.
She now realises that the Forum is a good place D4 HSE - Aintree Green

Maybe she wasn't being so blonde after all...
Tonight I got home, locked the car and went into the house. I then remembered I'd left my coat in the boot, so went straight back out to get it. I unlocked the car, opened both tailgates, got my coat out and closed the tailgates. That's when the fun began!
The car beeped when I tried to lock it. I re-opened and closed the tailgates and tried again - another beep. I went through the process again - another beep. I then opened and closed all the doors in turn - four more beeps. I went around the whole lot again - five more beeps.
I opened the driver's door and fired up the engine. Car told me the drivers door was open (which it was). I closed the door and looked in through the window, hoping it would then tell me another door was open. Nada. But - the interior light stayed on. Five more opening and closings of all entrances and the light was still on. I opened up the driver's door, turned off the engine, removed the keys, closed the driver's door and tried to lock it again. Finally it worked!
What the was going on there?
Given that it was 8.30 at night and my next door neighbours have four young children, having the car beeping it's horn a dozen or so times like this is something I can't risk happening often.
Any ideas
