HELP NEEDED: TPMS for Tuffant steel wheels

Hello my learned friends, anyone have experience running Steel wheels on a D4? I bought a set of Tuffant steelies and the guy from noroadclub told me it wasn't worth fitting TPMS sensors as the LR TPMS system doesn't work with steel wheels. I guess that sounds feasible as JLR only supplied D4s with Alloy wheels but a bit strange.

Now I have the TPMS fault showing all the time and will eventually get round to finding someone with an iid tool to turn it off for me BUT

Is that right?

Can I fit TPMS sensors on steel wheels and the system still see them?

Hoping someone has been through a similar experience and can enlighten me Smile

The 'pick up'(not sure that's the correct term) for the TPMS is above the wheel arch liner so I would expect signal to pass through the tyre rather than the wheel so I can't see there being an issue.

Thank you all,
I'd love to try popping a sensor one one of the tyres to see if the TPMS picks it up but, again the only official LR TPMS part code is for alloy wheels; maybe I should buy a TPMS from the new Defender steel wheels and see if that works.
