Help required with tint %
Hi all
Does anyone know what % the standard tint is on Disco HSE's etc. as std?
If I get mine done I'd want it to look 'factory std', not 'pimp my ride' (if you know what I mean!)
Thanks!

Extract from an email I had which may help...
Dear Mick,
Thank you for your enquiry with regards to applying window tints to your Land Rover Discovery 3. There are four shades in the range available to you, Light Smoke (50%), Smoke (35%), Midnight (20%) and Limousine (5%), firstly you have to be very careful with the level of tint that you apply to the two front drop windows so that you don’t render the vehicle illegal. We are happy to apply the light smoke tint to the two front windows; however the percentage of light transmission through a light smoke film added to the tint that already exists in the glass becomes very close to the legal limit. You can however legally apply any level of tint film that you wish to the all of the windows rear of the driving seat. You cannot apply any level of window tints to the front screen.
The most popular choice for this vehicle tends to be the Light Smoke to the front doors with the midnight to the rear section due to it being the closest match that we have to the factory fitted option.
Supplied and fitted in Pentagon high performance metalized tint film in light smoke to the front doors and any shade to the rear section, including lifetime warranty - £300 Inc VAT.
We would require your vehicle for approximately one day to complete the installation of the window tints, We are booking 2 to 3 days in advance. I hope this gives you an idea but please call or pop in as quality is everything as badly installed tints can destroy the look of a nice car. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00 pm.
If you have any further questions with regards to the legal situation and window tints forward of the B pillars please feel free to contact me or view our website for further information.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I'd say 20% for the rear. I have the fronts on mine at 30%. Legal limit here.
FWIW, tint % means it lets the % of light in, IE a 20% is darker than 30%... 17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

I've been thinking the same thing.. since the nipper came along I've noticed just how much like a greenhouse the landy is. Does anyone have any pictures of a blue D3 with light tints?56 HSE
Speak to Midland Tinting - plenty of very happy customers from all over UK on the forum. BTW the email suggestion on the above email would be illegal as the Standard LR tint is 12% MAX away from legal limit (IIRC) so If you want to stay legal - leave the fronts alone
Oh and you would probably save about £100 not going to pentagon "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
Anyone in the North West to be reccomended? Had a trawl through other threads and can't see anyone mentioned. Did have a pm with a mobile unit's number in NW, but don't want it done by a mobile unit.
