Help, there's a hole in my hose! |
|
Having just had 2 punctures in a week am thouroughly pi**ed off.
Not only that, I've managed to get a puncture in the air hose for my bushranger air jack
Haven't bothered having a look to see what's wrong yet - just put it away as I was running late. But it looked like it was punctured half way along it's length.
So the point is - can these things be fixed like an inner tube, or is it buy a new one time? Sail Fast - Live Slow...

Depending on what material the hose is made from, you may get away with bonding a patch of similar material over the damaged section.
I would use something like Sikoflex that the bodyshops use, once on, it won't be coming off easily. ATB

Thanks for that Alan.
From memory it looks like a double wall hose, presumably a plastic hose on the inside and a sort of webbing outside for protection. Tricky bit's going to be getting to the inner.
Will have a look over the weekend and see how bad it is...................... Sail Fast - Live Slow...

"Help, there's a hole in my hose!"
Why is it when I see this thread in the main menu.....
do I read:

You can buy this type of hose from places like machine mart or hypehose. the only problem is fixing the fittings back on the end of the new hose, they are probably just wired on I havent been down to look at mine but it should not be too difficult to do. Kevin

I think a replacement hose is around €23 USD, from looking on the web, so that will probably be £23 in this country.

If the puncture repair method doesn't work, being a tightwad I'd look at cutting the hose at the puncture and inserting a small length of copper/metal pipe the same I/D as the hose and bunging a couple of jubilee clips on it. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

Did a temporary patch at the weekend to use it and it worked until the car was almost up, then the hose split in another place. After 6 further temporary patches at other locations, it's continually splitting along the seam, so it seems like a manufacturing issue to me.
Might see if I can find an address to send it back to? Sail Fast - Live Slow...
