Help With 12S Pin 7 Fridge Earth
Hello all,
Looking for some info regarding the above, I have a 3 way fridge in my tintent that works fine on gas and 240v but I cannot get it to work on the 12v setting,
I have done some research on the fault code and apparently it is not getting a good earth from the car?
Has anyone modified there earth feed to pin 7 on a 12s socket and if so was it successful, do you have any pics.
I have done a search on here but apart from installing the 12s socket I cant find anything that will answer my question.
Thanks,

Need a bit more clarity on the question...
Do you have 12S installed?
How does the fridge know about the Car earth?
Are you asking how to modify your 12N to power the fridge?

Brian,
The first top-tip is to stop using your 12S if there is any chance of the ground being poor.
No really, just stop.
I mean it.
Poor ground on 12S is reasonably common and having a fire, melted looms or socket as a direct result is also reasonably common. This includes a number of forum members.
The 12S is a bad design that is prone to failure. The best advice is to upgrade to 13 pin and buy a lottery ticket.

yep, got 12s installed.
It doesn't "know" but from research it cant draw the correct current so does not start up, has enough to power control panel though.
Not planning on moding 12N

I did read that that was an option but didn't realise there was an inherent danger to the 12S.
Going away this weekend but will look into swapping out when we come back.
Is it easy to swap to 13 pin on D3? is it a better loom?

Easy to swap and the loom is of similar quality (ie both JLR looms are good quality). The problem with the 12S is the design of the pins, especially pin 7 as a small amount of wiggle equals a spread pin and poor contact. Time, current, resistance and heat does the rest.
The 13-pin is a completely different design and the twist-to-lock ensures no up-and-down flexing.

At the moment I have to assume it's supply and once that has been sorted I will start thinking about the fridge itself

Have you tried plugging the caravan into a different vehicle to find if the problem persists?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I seem to be passing through your "village" quite a lot these days.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
