Help - Wrong rear caliper carrier V8 upgrade

Hi,

I have a 2006 LR3 with 4.0 V6 petrol engine. I'm in the middle of a complete suspension overhaul and I figured I'd upgrade the brakes to V8 at the same time. However the caliper carriers I got do not have the same knuckle mounting holes as the originals. I purchased the carriers direct from an LR dealer. I used the part numbers I got off of Advance Factors web site (here: https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/kit384-r...438-p.asp) specifically:

SXP500014

These seemed to cross to 2005-2009 LR3 V8.

However they wont fit. The original mounting holes are about 10cm center to center. The new SXP500014 are only about 7.5cm center to center.

Looks like someone in France ran into the same problem:
https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/disco3-v8-4...=SXP500014

Before I call up the dealer to try to set this right, can someone please confirm that the V8 brackets should have the same mounting dimensions as the V6. See photos.

Thanks!!
Greg.

Wrong part in the box. Has happened to a few people.

V8 carriers bolt right up in place of the V6 ones.

Dealer insists correct caliper carriers are in the box. Will not reorder:

Quote:

I did contact Landrover I asked them to do a product inspection, They confirmed they are correct in the Packaging from factory as of yesterday. Also I asked if they would fit on your 4.0 V6. They said they don't recommend modifying there vehicles and will not fit. I'm not going to order any more brackets if there not going to work either.

They are at least going to refund. I sent the dealer the links above as well as this bit from Advanced Factors:

Quote:
SXP500014 Rear Brake Caliper Carrier V8 Discovery & RR Sport

This item is guaranteed correct for applications needing SXP500014, we are aware that Land Rover and TRW currently are supplying the wrong item in the box and have been doing so for sometime despite us telling both companies of the issue. We now have this product manufactured especially for us.

https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/sxp50001...2404-p.asp

They didn't want to hear any of it. So I guess the parts will go back on the shelf to screw the next guy.

Just purchased from Advanced Factors. Hopefully they'll get here in a reasonable amount of time.... woohoo just got noticed they already shipped! Just placed the order 1/2 hour ago.

I am afraid that LR parts relies too much on its suppliers to "confirm" the parts are correct. I have been coming across this sort of issue for over 40 years. Fortunately when I worked for LR I was often able to confirm what was correct, as I had access to the original specification. Sometimes it was incorrect packaging and others a part not to specification.

With the kind help of my local Land Rover dealer they asked for the engineering drawings for similar callipers.
SXP 500014 has hole centres of 76.2mm so will not fit a D3
SXP 500013 has 100mm hole centres and is standard 2.7 carriers
SXP 500060 has 100mm hole centres but drilled further out to suit the bigger brakes

So the D3 V8 calliper carrier is SXP 500060 TRW67323331 (used in TRW 67934731.LR)
My guess is that we have been assuming that the Advanced catalogue is correct but their ADV SPX500014 is not the same as a Land Rover SPX500014 part.

Advanced ADV SPX500014 does fit a D3 V8

That's what I believed by reading the various posts on this forum but the drawings tell a different story :-
What's in the SXP500014 box is exactly what the drawing details

In that case then, Microcat/EPC are wrong...
