HELP.....lights only working on offside!

I have just bought a D3 and all the lights on the nearside of the car have just stopped working, with the exception of dipped beam in the headlight and the fog light in the rear. The sidelights are not working (F&R), nor is the side repeater, rear indicator or the number plate lights!

I have checked the sidelight fuse in the glovebox and tail light/no. plate light fuse in the boot.

It's really annoying as they were working yesterday!

Any advice on what to check/try would be greatly appreciated!!!

The nearside side lights and rear number plate illumination are all on the same fuse in the passenger footwell ( sorry, I forget which one ). I'd re-check it if I was you. There's no point checking boot fuses, they are normally for towing electrics.

Do not be surprised if the number plate illumination is causing the problem, been there, done that one. Rolling Eyes
Slamming the tailgate resulting in one of the bulbs half hanging out will pop the fuse, it's for this reason I changed the old bulb holders for LED units. Wink

Please amend your vehicle profile too.

++UPDATE++
I just checked, you want Fuse 4 in the passenger footwell. Wink

I’ve had fuse 4 out twice now and replaced it with a brand new fuse both times.....still no joy!

I’ve also taken the number plate light bulbs out to check they’re not blown and they’re both ok!

No idea what to do/try next!!!

Inspect the old fuses. Are they blown?

Not something like a parking switch where you switch off one side at night. Embarassed

Remove the number plate bulbs and try again with the bulbs out.
Check you've got power at the front lights by using a known good bulb.
Try disconnecting the rear light unit too and see if things improve.

I'd still suspect that fuse but it is odd you've also lost side repeater too, that's on a different circuit.

The old fuses weren’t blown which is why changing them for new isn’t working.

The side repeater flashes really really faintly when I lock/unlock the car, doesn’t work at all otherwise though....

Nightmare!

Is it because the body control module or whatever its called on a D3? ana see the problem and so wont give the lights power?

Both sides use the same relay, so if one side works then relay is ok. They separate after the relay and go to two 10 amp fuses. Fuse 2 and Fuse 4 behind glove box. I would check whether you are getting volts at the fuse. The sides have different cable runs and have a different earth connection. If volts okay at fuse, see if you have volts at one of the lamps when lights are on. Use different earth connection when checking volts as this will tell whether its an earth or cable problem.

Under the bonnet are two large J type fuses in the fuse box,
with a bulb icon. I think the fuses are the big green ones.

Is one of those blown?
Are the main beam headlights working ?

The headlight wiring had been burnt by the exhaust to the heater under the bonnet and started blowing the fuse!

No, 10 amp fuse in the main fuse board behind the glovebox inside the car.
