Hesitation when pulling away

Hi guys we have a 2012 sDV6 D4 60k miles FSH 8 speed but we are finding that it hesitated when pulling away from junctions or small increases in throttle hesitate and then force a down change of gears as opposed to just using the torque of the engine?

The gearbox hasn’t been flushed as yet?

We don’t have any fault codes and the dealer says that it’s normal, but it doesn’t feel right?

Any suggestions?

Thank you! Is there a way of finding out more info? Can I take it to a main dealer or check if it’s been done?

I have the same problem, put your foot down on the gas pedal and you get nothing, nothing, nothing then suddenly your away like a rocket
Bit scary at junctions sometimes but early Freelander 2 SD4 engines 2011-2013 have the same problem and it has never been fully diagnosed or cured despite various attempts by LR, remapping, throttle body swaps etc.

Does anyone have the details of the software update please and ill go to my local dealer as soon as I can to ask.

TIA

Firstly, get any fault codes read to get an idea of what might be going on.

For remaps, take it to Alive Tuning in Louth or Bell Auto Services in nr York and it will come out a different motor. I'd do that over a main dealer all day long. They'll get rid of the lag and release a little more torque out of it.

What map did you use?

I think i'd prefer a fix as opposed to a work around if possible?

Is it possible to apply the SW update with IID Tool or is it a dealer only update?

if gearbox responses are too slow for you put it in sport mode for town driving it is much quicker on take off

IMHO Avoid main dealers whenever you can, & go to a good indy.

BAS remap is excellent.

It’s the same issue in sport mode (I’m fact worse!), you press the accelerator nothing happens and then whoosh it takes off!

It’s as though the throttle cable is getting stuck and then suddenly releasing (I know this is fly by wire but that’s the easiest way of describing the issue) Whistle

I did read that in some cases the throttle potentiometer could be at fault but I don't think there is a definitive cure for it.

once ive got full service, diff and TB oils done, followed by MOT then gearbox flush.... im hoping ill have enough cash left for an Alive remap. After 110k it wont hurt just to freshen up things and recalibrate the electronics a bit Whistle
