I always go for the HGV pumps wherever I am unless its HGV busy. There are two garages close to me that sell Red Diesel, the pumps are locked but are in use and available if required. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
The Jet station in Wem has a Red Diesel pump on the forecourt, it is well signed up though as not to be used as road fuel.I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

One of the Shell stations on the A51, near Colwich, has just been refitted. At least two of the pump stands have two diesel nozzels, one for V-power and one for vin-ordinaire. Above the vin-ordinaire nozzel is a button that enables "HGV mode", and "Not to be used for cars. Next time I fill up theree I'm going to try that button, just to see what happens Rob Smith

[quoDiesel has been developed for the HGV use, the modern HGV diesel engine to meet Euro5 spec now has an exra tank for ADBLU, I digress. This basically is a chemical by product resembling SHEEP URINE. it is injected at the combustion stage therfor improoving torque and economy and also emitions, this will be available for car use, almost definate. The problem is you will have to pay for it ontop of a litre of diesel. If you drive when the adblue runs out, no biggy, the ecu knocks back 25% performance.

we use ad blue on euro 4 buses and it is not a fuel aditive it is held in a tank and injected into the cat in the exhaust to covert the last of the imputities in the exhaust after the fuel has been burned, Basicaly it helps the cat do a better job and lowers the final emmision reading.[/quote]

Ad-blue is nothing to do with combustion, it is to control emmissions of exhaust gases. It isn't used anywhere in the engine, only the exhaust system.
The lack of power is ECU controlled to make you keep the system topped up and the ECU will record mileage covered without the use of Ad-blue, for which you will be charged excess duty when legislation comes into force sometime in the near future. Some drivers are using water to try and fool the system, but there are sensors to detect the concerntrate of Ad-blue.
