Hi, advice needed.
Hello, I’m back in the market for another all rounder that’ll hopefully live up to the D3 I owned of yesteryear in a way that the D5 never did.
I’m looking at this, I’m not really a fan of the colour as it looks like steamed cabbage,
I’ll get it wrapped, in something more appealing, but the Mile’s are tempting me as is the lack of sun roof.
According to the salesman it’s the best looked after D4 he’s seen, but it’s only got one key ? Maybe some of the not so good looked after ones have no keys ?
Not sure what Tax bracket this fits in to or if the headlights are Xenon or LED or just plain halogen ?
I’m a bit rusty on al things Land Rover ?

It’s a very rare color indeed…
You can’t tell (at least I can’t) from the pictures whether the lights are halogen or HID. It would be possible to tell it from the sticker on top of them.
It is possible to make additional keys for example with an IID.

You would think an SE had hid ?
Not sure it’s that easy to add keys to d4 without changing the kvm
Due to its lock down after so many thefts.

I guess it depends kind of also what you want…like, the one you mentioned has a black/white display which is mostly useless, a basic sound system, cloth seats. Nothing wrong with that of course but perhaps the salesman was being a salesman…………
Try searching and comparing ”se tech” trim vehicles, I think they also mostly came without a sunroof but could be specced otherwise almost to HSE with leather, meridian, etc. there seemed to be quite many on PistonHeads.

Is it really an SE?

SE doesn’t necessarily have HID, it surprised me too. There’s a MY14 (64 plate) SE Tech with halogens for 21k in Bayford for example.
In the past it was possible to add keys with IID to D4, not sure how/if it has changed. I also heard a rumor of them getting locked down but assumed that required a software update and all at a dealer.

Seems to be a bloody minefield, there’s so many trim levels and variations on a theme.

I think the D4 SEs were a lower spec than the D3 SE's?
Truly a horrendous colour - or at the very best a matter of personal taste!
I can't really add anything positive in response to your specific questions Chalky, other than if the garage is on the A6 north of Preston then it may well be the same one I used to pass regularly (3 or 4 times a year) which had a steady stream of JLR trade-ins from the nearby main dealers. These were usually cars which were not 'new' enough for a main dealer to put on the forecourt, but which were too good to go to auction.
The one-lady owner does not (to me at least) sit with the removeable towbar hanging off the back end, unless she was (for example) horsey.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)

There’s far better out there than that …. plus, you’ll never sell it on (to a sane person)....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Certainly is a strange colour, not sure if I like it or not.
If my dog produced something that colour I would already be halfway to the emergency vets.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Even if you left it unlocked It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Especially if you left it unlocked with the keys in the ignition!
Still thinking I may actually like it though. Wasn’t that a special colour for the Forestry Commision?
