Hi Mileage D3's are they reliable
Hi All,
I am new to this forum but would welcome any information about high mileage D3's as I am looking to buy a 70k SE model, I cant justify spending over 20k. Also what mileage the the cam belts need to be changed and whats the typical cost of this job?
All replies are greatly appreciated.

Mines at 72K miles and is fine. Just needs servicing and the odd electronic park brake adjustment now and again.

Change main and ancillary at 105K miles.
75K miles service is an 'A' service so an interim one.
'B' services are the expensive heavy duty ones.

Service costs vary wildly around the country. City based dealers tned to be the more expensive.
My dealer for example charges near as dammit the LR book price for services. £300 being an average every 15K miles at a guess.
Some will price match too. Some will give you a 'Premium' service and even clean the car and vac out the interior... even going to great lengths and giving you a free loan car This of course you pay for with a higher 'Premium' service charge
Again, this is all part of the standard service I get offered and am not charged extra nor have to insure the loan D3 / FL2 myself. Many other more rural dealers seem to operate this way too.
Try a few good dealers and see what they are offering on their lot.
As an example my dealer Shukers has always been great. They can be found here.

I am of the belief that a Base 7 seat (New ones are GS) is the thinking mans D3. Even the LR used website has quite a few under 20k with reasonable miles.
EDIT.....But - of course I may be wrong

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I know where there is a 93k HSE with LR DVD player, new engine at 63k, just had a new rear diff, transfer box, steering rack. Had new disc's all round recently and has an extra years warranty on top of the standard 3 years, and its going for 21k In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
