Very cool.
Thumbs Up
Christyler did a hydraulic winch running off the power steering pump, I think. Dunno what all the pro's & cons were, but it was certainly smaller and lighter and would never run your battery down. If the engine wasn't working then you would have a problem I guess. Here's one of the threads http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic11794.html

A point of interest.... How does the new ARB unit accommodate your front PDC??? In my case with the LR winch, the stealer disabled the PDC. From info on the forum, I am taking it back to him to enable it again He must fit the two center sensors & seal them off with prestick in a plastic bag. Only the two outer sensors will then be active.

Front PDC will not be fitted. ARB weakened by drilling ....may do it anyway. Jury still out ..... ARB just has omething misisng Rolling Eyes

Driving lights with hidden winch?!

I know this is from a while ago, and not sure if you still have same vehicle, but I'm curious how the driving lights are affixed to bumper. Is there a bracket underneath the bumper or are they just affixed to the plastic?

Aubrey, IMHO some one is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
Looking where the possible mounting positions for the PDC are, there is
no way it will weaken the ARB for what we use it for.

AFAIK the problem fitting the sensors to the ARB bar is the fact that the sensors cannot be mounted on a steel surface, why, i'm not sure , maybe somebody can shed some light on this.

I've got driving lights on mine and there is a steel support underneath the plastic bumper that mounts on a steel beam to support the fitting and light. Also remember that there is a wiring loom you need to fit driving lights on the D3.

Right, that's true except when a hidden winch is installed the steel bumper is removed so the plinth column for mounting the lamp brackets has nothing to attach to. So I was wondering if Aubrey had special brackets made or just fixed the lamp brackets to the plastic bumper only...
