Robbie what do you mean by externally maybe the cars suspension?
I ask as D3 with its self levelling susp shouldnt really need the headlamps to self level, but I think they do?

The car self-levels so the headlights, being fixed, are levelled by the air suspension.

Thumbs Up

Beat me to it, just read the regs, well some of them they waffle on a bit so skimmed a bit! and they mentioned a car with self levelling susp will comply.
Wonder why land rover did both with the d3 then?

Unfortunately they are not legal, even if you have washers and self levelling systems. The lense itself is not type approved for HID lights. The DFT have produced a leaflet on it.

Personally I think they should be banned as the quality varies so much, which is why type approval exists in the first place. Yesterday on a country lane, it was easy to spot the cars with after market systems.

+1 to ban them too.
They are not UK road legal & you run the risk of MOT failure ( due to beam pattern being 'all over the place') or if stopped by Traffic Police a ticket & prohibition notice.
(Technically as the aftermarket kits are non-compliant - they are not 'headlights' in the eye of the law/ as defined in the legislation, so no headlights = no MOT etc etc..)

If you want HID's why not do what others have dome & fit replacement genuine LR ones? at least then they will comply with minimal extra work involved.
