I just can’t understand anyone saying that Stonehenge, arguably the worlds most important ancient stone circle and older than the Great Pyramids and the Roman Empire, isn’t significant or wouldn’t really be missed because it’s ‘old technology’ and doesn’t serve a purpose.

I'm not knocking the level-of-effort or the belief behind it, but...
...Silsbury Hill is pretty awesome
...some of the pots and vases left behind by the ancient Egyptians are impressive in terms of cylindricity, consistency, etc.,
...Avebury, Aldborne, etc., are more "spiritual" (perhaps the latter being because it was in Dr Who)
...Easter Island - WTF?
...the lack of gaps between blocks in some ancient sites boggles the mind.
And, no, I haven't been watching Ancient Alien Shark Mystery Channel!
My mother recently discarded some nails from Sutton Hoo because she thought they were mucky. 2015 Volvo V40

I’m not disputing that at solstice times it attracts some, shall we say ‘characters’.
I would like to see the sun align with the stones though. Although I might look a bit out of place! 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

fyi it was the police closing down the stonhenge festival that kicked off glastobury from a minor affair into a major event as that was the next stop on the hippee trail
Me too, although it became very "biker" focused by the last time I went, which would have been about 1982. Then it was like a scene from Mad Max and the underlying vibe was edgy to say the least.
They (the bikers) used to close off the A303 and drag race on it. Which would have been a catalyst for it being shut down.
I did max out my RD250LC and a friends Z650 a few times though.
