HK logic 7 failure and new infotainment system |
|
Hi All,
A newbie hear (forum and D3 owner)
Purchased a D3 Metropolis but has no working Sat or Stereo Sound. Suggested problems lead to MOST bus cable or Amp Failure.
In the process of professional diagnosis and correction.
Until the tech guys diagnose, Could anyone answer the following
1. will a used replacement (like for like) amp and head unit just plug and play without being re coded to the car? (assuming no fibre optic cable damage)
2. Has anyone successfully replaced the system with an up to date double din and Apple car play? if so what functions have you lost on the car. I heard parking sensors disappear - is there anything else?
3. Rear roof flip down dvd entertainment system doesn't play/work. Can this also be upgraded.
Repairing the old system seems to be the obvious answer but as it is so outdated, are there better options in today’s age of tech that won’t cause issues with functionality if the car?

I replaced my base system with an android auto/car play unit and all i lost was the clock but on a logic 7 with sat nav you will lose all the head unit based controls including 4x4 info.
There are work arounds but still not a plug n play solution, heard some people just fit a new unit and keep the old still connected on an extended harness tucked under the passenger seat.
You can get a harness to bypass the amp or to utilise it but you still lose functions.
