DONE ALL THE ABOVE EVEN SHORTED OUT THE PLUG STILL IT BLEEPS WHEN LOCKING THE THING LOL
do you mean it just bleeps the once ? or do you get a bleep-bleep sound ? on D4 that would mean it hasn't properly locked, it at all. your other posts suggest you've tried the doors and they are locked.
which suggests someone has tweaked the set-up to indicate alarm is triggered. fine on a RRS or similar where it's a fairly discrete bleep, but the horn would be too much IMHO..

Hi Just a quickie upgraded from Disco 2 to disco 3 noticed that when I lock the car on the fob it sounds the horn.
Checked that everything is locked, Just wondering if this is the norm
Thanks in advance STom
Doors or bonnet not properly locked is "announced" by two short beeps, not one beep.
But....
It's an option that you can activate/disactivate by LR Diags or IIDTools.
on my D4 I use it.
I also select one beep when locked.
I'm not sure for the D3 but should be the same.
If you use IIDTool, when you are editing the CCF you have several otions for the alarm configuration, eg:
Under BCM - BodyControl you have the options:
- "Vehicle Horn on Alarm"
- "Arm/Disarm Chirp"
- "Second press chirp" (useble when you have selected the superlock on second remote press)
- "Global close with Remote" (yes)
- "First Press Superlock" (when disabled you superlock the car when pressing two time the remote)
In my XXV D4 the settings are (same as my previous MY2011 D4 HSE):
Same car, expecially the D3s, has not installed the alarm beeper, in this case the car use the horn for the alarm and for the alarm operating status reports (as the Defender with or without alarm sounder).

On D3 horn only sounds once.
Have you actually tried the wd40 trick. It might be worth putting everything back and spraying the switch and latch, nothing to lose

Only today, I was talking to my main D3 man. He was telling me about his D4 and the beeping. His turned out to be his front door lock. Apparently a pig to replace.1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch

Just re reading the thread, when you said no warning lights presumably you actually meant no text saying bonnet open in which case it can't be the bonnet switch. .??

My bonnet switch failed but didn't give any message. I know it failed as with the bonnet open it didn't give a message.
It obviously failed in the made position.

I see your point, but I assume that wouldn't cause the horn to sound.

Maybe he has two dodgy locks/catches.
One door that isn't seeing itself as closed and a bonnet one that doesn't see itself as open.

Check the bonnet slam rubbers are not loose - inside corners of bonnet. Mine had partially unscrewed meaning bonnet switch did not activate (but bonnet catch caught so it looked shut).
Might not be that, but it was on mine and it’s a easy check/fix
