HSE D3 or lower spec new D4

Help !!

My first Discovery and i need some advice. I was going to go for a Discovery 3 HSE '08 plate with 38k on the clock but i have the opportunity to buy a new D4 ex vat, but the lower spec model, for £3k or £4k more.

Do i go for the new D4 with the better engine and less luxury or is the D3 HSE a better buy, even if out of warranty.

Also are the European SE models that much different to the UK XS models ??

any feedback would be appreciated

tks

Just a quick question :

Is the Vat free sale specific to the lower spec model being offered or is it a general entitlement to VAT exemption that you have?

I bought my 2012 vat free and got a well spec'd HSE for about £43k.

If you have the exemption, why not see what the price for the HSE would work out at with any discount you can work out with your dealer?

If it is specific to a particular vehicle, then what would you be willing to live without to get a newer vehicle with a comprehensive manufacturers warranty

Good luck with it Smile

The D4 would be a left hand drive SE model for European markets. I will do most, if not all, my driving in Europe so want a left hand drive. I believe the SE model for the European market is similar if not the same as the XS model for the UK.

The basic SE mode D4 is around £30k and the HSE D3 i am looking at is £23k.

My gut feeling is the £7k for the better engined D4 would be worth it (but i have to confess i have not driven a D4), just from what i have read & reviews.

D4 all the way.

Bits and pieces missing can be retro fitted but engine and gearbox cannot and are a big improvement over D3.

Would of thought D3 residuals will be weaker when time comes to sell due to older model

D4, warranty, 3.0 engine, newer model, residuals. Any spec of D4 isn't exactly poorly equipped and with a lower spec one there is less to go wrong as it gets older e.g. Rear Aircon pipescorrosion, Leaking sunroofs etc.

Saying that mind both D3 and D4 are excellent cars, so which ever option you go for is a top choice! Thumbs Up

if spec is similar to XS you won't be disapointed and as Russel said things are easily added.
