HSE stereo woes

My stereo has been problematic for some time. It’s now gone off permanently taking with it the sat nag for some reason?
I have this morning been out with my torch and fuses and checked each and every fuse relating to the stereo in any way. About five plus a relay. All are good for continuity. The stereo block at the back of the unit is receiving volts on what I guess are the switched and constant wires. Dash out once again.....
I removed the stereo front and top looking for bad soLdered joints but all looks visually ok.
I’m pretty sure the stereo unit itself is kaput.
The Ariel cable clip was broken and disintegrated last time it came out but it worked again periodically for a few months without Ariel so I’m sure that’s not an earth issue.
Is it possible to replace it with an aftermarket unit for reasonable money? I can live without the sat nag I would like some music though. It does long trips this car.
Second hand units appear to be silly money considering their age and presumably same liability to malfunction as the unit in the car?
Given that there is voltage to the biggest plug into the unit and the fuses are good any other ideas before I begin the next quest for a working stereo I should check ?

Yes if you have power on the thick wires and it doesn’t respond in any way to the knob being pressed it does sound like the unit itself.

Hse require an amplifier bypass kit from connects2 which aren’t cheap.
Factory Bluetooth will be lost.

Found a bloke who will repair this for me. 240 approx with a 12 months warranty. Described the symptoms and apparently it’s a real common thing?
I will update once it’s been done hopefully.
