How much are we looking roughly for new front arms. Cars in dealers for service and this has come up. Been quoted £1200 for those alone. I assume that could be done for a lot less?

Found a landrover specialist near by who can do it for half that quoted. Which seems fair

There Is a knock from the front, got quieter with new tyres which makes sense. However I know it was there. Probably not urgent and maybe not an MOT failure..... was expecting it to be flagged up last week but it didn’t ??

Having read lots of threads on here It seems to be down to the individual judgement of the mot tester and their experience with Land Rovers.
Do a search, there is some interesting reading Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Mine failed it’s mot on front lower rear bushes 20k miles after having new genuine arms fitted, I took it to a different mot station next day with nothing being done and it passed without any advisories. The problem is a lot of garages do not know how to check these bushes and the tolerance allowed, even new bushes have movement, but if you have a knocking when dabbing the brakes at a low speed you have a fault, not necessary the arms it could be the anti-roll bar bushes which are a much cheaper option.
Tyres will not make any difference to the bushes. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I get a small knock on wee bumps etc. It was expected and I’m not shocked other than the quote to replace by main dealer. After watching the video they have sent me, it’s the rear bush that has play on both sides bit as you say whether a failure or not is debatable. It never got picked up at MOT but I will get it taken care off!!
