Why not just record MP3s onto CDs and use them?
I just "ripped" my audio CDs on the computer to MP3 format and put these onto CDs.

I did this before the ipod adaptor . IMHO still sounds better than ipod - just make sure you do the encoding at a nice high bit rate - I used 320 CBR

The kit is available via your LR dealer, but 'The Large One' on here will do you a good deal for it. It connects to the rear of the stereo and gives ipod, phono, usb connectivicty. It will also work with iphone. The older version had a cradle that you sited on the dash behind the steering wheel. The new one comes without the cradle, but allows you to position it where you like. It is a simple DIY fit.
Controls via the steering wheel are limited, and as far as I'm aware there are no voice commands for it.

With regards to Quality, if you use a line out adapter so you are using line level from the iPod NOT the headphone amp you get much better sound.

Oops!
For some reason, one of the many strange behaviours seen on my work laptop is that sometimes when you copy-paste it does not put in the last copy. Bill Gates has a lot to answer for...
