What should I expect from a dealer? |
|
Hi I am buying a used Disco4 and wondered if it would be reasonable to expect all the fluids (oil/collant/washer etc) to have been topped up prior to delivery of a one year old vehicle? the dealer is refusing to do this as well as pay for a full tank fo fuel!

My view:
Fluids should be correct obviously. Essential for safe and effective operation of the vehicle
Fuel you may be able to negotiate but don't expect it afterwards if you did not include it in your deal ____

At the very least it should have had a full check-over and 'mini-service' which should include fluid levels.
I think I would insist on it for 'peace of mind'.
It would be beneficial to the dealer to do this as he also knows that the levels are ok before the vehicle is sold.

Coolant and oils YES Fuel and washers NO but under the law of the land you get a warranty from the dealer PLUS if it is a Land Rover dealer is it being sold under their Official Used Car Scheme then there may be other warranties over and above the "law of the land". Are you buying it from an official LR dealer?
How can they refuse to check/top-up the fluid levels
Even the Approved Used Promise clearly states that this is included:
http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/approved...d-promise/
Land Rover Comprehensive Multi-Point inspection
A rigorous inspection by specialist Land Rover technicians and all rectification work completed.
As far as the fuel goes, I would forget about it....you haven't bought a brand new car and the margins will be far less for them.
Just worry about getting them to prepare and deliver the car in the best possible condition and pay for your own fuel.
A quick call to LR Customer Services should clear this up immediately 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

might want to make a note of the mileage, not unheard of in this weather for the car to be used as a temp loaner if it was a demonstrator
