I finished some work this weekend
Hi everyone,
i finished some work on my D3SE. Here are some pictures in case someone plans a similar thing and can use my ideas.
The task was:
-additional battery to supply refrigerator, radio and so on.
-Installation of some equipment.
-Installation of a video system which records the drivers view permanently.
The Optima battery is controled by a SurePower battery isolator and gets charged only when the starter battery has sufficient power.
That's a very professional looking job
Can you supply some more details of the set-up, particularly the video stuff
SiThe End

The video system is a mobile HDD recorder. It has a 80GB HDD
I have it controled by a device which gives power as soon as ignition is on, with a delay of about 15 mins the recorder switches off.
I WiFi accesspoint will be the next. So i can save the recording as soon as the car is near my network.
I need to install an external WiFi antenna next.

WoW... I like the mobile vid recorder..... can you supply more details of it please.
Does look really nice installation, mine would have been selotape and blutack etc! !
Of course this would come in useful if somebody pulled out in front of you and you hit them...... mmm .... could work the other way as well, i.e. you hit somebody by accident...... thinking..... Im sure there is a emergency format button...... so the evidence could be destroyed?
Joking aside, I would like more info on the HDD recorder please.

Yeah, i knew the most questions would occur about the DVR.
As for the application: I work in the "special transport business" (Heavyloads, wideloads etc.) So whenever i accompany one of our transports i record all of the route as an evidence.
It is a HDD recorder which records in MPEG2.
The connections are: video in/out, sound(line) in/out, 100Mbit LAN, Alarm switch, power, remote.
There is no remote installed because all is setup and the backup of recording is done by LAN. So the missing remote protects the user from playing around with the system. Although there is password protection.
The entire unit is installed underneath the loading space.
Does that help? If not please ask.

Thanks, how much would a unit like that cost, and where do you get it from?

Can you explain where you installed that Optima Yellow top. I need to put one in my LR3 so that my winch can have some more juice.
Thanks,
Nomad

Nomad: i am not sure about your question. Did you check the second battery compartment for some space. LandRover prepared the car for a second battery.
Please check the plastic box on the drivers side. It carries the ABS switch and provides space for your yellow top.
Greetings - George - who enjoys beautiful Tuscany with his D3TDVSE right know
