it happening now. I refresh the "new post" and the screen clears. i get the top images./banners and the bottom line of browser sayes loading images. I can wait for ages (many minutes) and nothing loads. however, if i click on the desktop and take the focus off the disco3 window, the page imeadeatly appears
I thought it was my PC but it doesnt do it on any of the the other websites i visit, they appear instantly.
I'll try and do a short video to show you
This sounds like a browser issue rather than a site problem - which browser are you using and on which OS? 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

What I think is happening (and I won't be able to confirm until a few days time) is that the slowdown at 11/11 causes a huge load on the web server from becaused, when the database server is slow, the web server is hit multiple times by users who are seeing no activity from the site, and therefore keep hitting refresh. This causes a number of "dead" connections to the server, which stay around until it is rebooted.
Once the backup has finished, the database server returns to normal speed, but there are still the dead connections to the web server. So the number of available connections is reduced (and I think it is reduced by something like 80%) - hence the error messages.
This is still a theory which I won't be above to prove or disprove until tonight (if there enough people around!) at the earliest. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
