The latest D4 has it as an option. It detects vehicles in the blind spots to the sides and also at the back, via radar I think.Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done

I didn't say it would not assist and I even commented that it make progress smoother, but it will not get you places that a regular D3/D4 wouldn't achieve.
The vanilla D3 and D4 are immensely capable but other things come to play before the diff is found wanting.

I'd have thought tyre choice would be more useful than locking or non locking diff. Saying that, the D3 is superbly capable even on standard road tyres.

D3 \ 4 doesn't have axles

My screen is same as yours and my diff is open.
In 2015 Discos, the display will tell you, tried an SE unknow specs, showed no avatar of a rear diff. The TRV3.0 with the locker specified shows up in the display. Don't know about the D3.

Don't listen to the "it doesn't do anything" heathens ....The e-diff is a remarkable bit of kit .....on the recent coast-to-coast that we did,I paid particular attention to when it locked up,and under what circumstances....
Sitting on loose ground (with the car in neutral and the handbrake on) both diffs were fully unlocked (on a steep slope or on the flat) as soon as Drive was selected,and before the EPB was released,both diffs fully locked,sensing the need to engage before slip was detected...on firmer ground it didn't ....we played around with it under different conditions,and every time it detected poor traction conditions before moving off,and got it right every single time...extraordinary
Likewise,coming out a muddy lane,with the tyre treadblocks full of mud,the diffs stayed locked until the mud cleared itself....at no point had the TC cut in,so the diff was detecting slip,when the TC hadn't.
Same thing cornering hard after coming out of deep water.....no DSC triggered,or TC cutting in,but the diffs both locked....I had different passengers at different times (D3 owners) and we all agreed on one thing,it can only have been witchcraft !
Im happy with those on here that say they have never seen an e-diff equipped car go anywhere a non-equipped car can't,but I'm not convinced by the arguments that is is completely surplus to requirements off-road...
Let's face it,there are plenty of options that go on a Discovery,but very few (if any) other than the rear e-diff,which are designed to make progress easier off-road....or why would they have developed it ?
