Tight, Scotland ok I've answered it myself!

However, XS does not offer enough for me and the HSE seems to over too much. Personally I don't see the D4 as a £50k car but that is what the HSE is with privacy glass and a couple of other bits.

Remember that D3 HSEs went up to about £47k at launch.

Can only recommend that you feed it back to your dealer and ask them to petition LR for an SE model if there is that big a gap.

Tried that but he is a salesman; ie if you want to buy then come on down, if you don't then don't!

Yes, ithink overpriced, but it is a new version, so will command premium for a short while. Also lr won't make as many as quickly, so there won't be the excess stock like there was before. I think after 6 months you'll be able to get better deals. I'll wait another year before changing, but also need to find somewhere for an aux battery as I've found it to invaluable.

Bodsy,

I've got those pic's you wanted of the 2nd battery box... Sure you have seen under the bonnet by now but I'll post later anyway, not got the pic's with me at the moment.. Sorry for delay!
It does not look like things will be easy to move. Evil or Very Mad I will ask LR if they have a plan for their Special Vehicles Dept who fit this stuff for rescue services etc.

Cheers, Richard.

But if yoiu've got those photos youcould e-mail to me so I can get the full detail, that woiuld be even better. I'm not sure how Shukers will be with me size 10's taking apart their demo model! Laughing

They don't have one yet, asked Nick on Thursday, their launch event is on the 22nd August for all the MY2010 product.

Oh and yes, the D4 is way over priced... the 3.0 GS has hardly any kit compared to my XS and the new XS is another £5K over mine Shocked

Got to agree with Simon that it is overpriced. A marketing move to slide it a bit more upmarket beside the Q7's and Cayennes of this world.

I good ploy for the Tata group if it works, if not expect to see incentives and price drops after the initial pomp and circ dies away.

There are so much better cars out there for £50k, that handle well, good mpg and are better to drive. Although granted no where near as good offroad, but how many folk on here (almost 7000 users) actually do medium to serious offroading in theirs that a tiguan or CRV could not do.

The key thing for me with the D3 / D4 is that it has to be the most versatile vehicle out there with very little compromise. The offroad ability being for fun only and when the weather is too awful for others to be on the roads.

My D3 will go back to LR a year and a half after the D4 launch, so hope to get a pre enjoyed D4 XS on a lease for far less than the current price list is demanding.

Agree with you guys, definitely overpriced! LR marketing moves with the D4 remind me of what happened when the FL2 came out... A year+ later price dropped by near 8000euros over here! I would expect the same to happen with the D4 as well. Evil or Very Mad

It seems to me that LR have decided that they are interested in a new customer base,( Q7,X5,etc) the D4 looks very nice, i've just had a quote to swap into one, an XS with tow assist camera's, lamp gaurds etc, to PX my 07 XS auto with FSH and 55k on the clock, the dealer is still looking at £25k to change! this is with the loyalty bonus taken off!i can't belive that the car i was looking at had a retail price of £45k+!!!!!!!!

But i belive that we have been here before with the Freelander to the Freelander 2 !!!!
