Here's a few photos of the iPad installed using the Proclip mount (no drilling, just clips in place) and the Ram Tab-Tite holder.

You can rotate the holder pretty much in any direction with the double socket arm. The holder comes with a 3" arm, but I thought that might be too short, so I added a 6.5" arm, which is what is in the photo.

So far I found it support the iPad quite well in regular driving. It has an adjustable tension bolt, and when tightened down, it's not going anywhere. Of course off road, will probably be a different story. Wink This location hasn't interfered with access to the controls & the passenger can even swivel it around to use the iPad as well.

Hope these photos give you the info you were looking for. If you would like to see more detailed photos, just let me know. Smile

Stuart Neil ....thanks but what about the iPhone 4s ,will that mount on the same Proclip mount ,meaning you could use the same one just by changing the holders ?

Been up in a place called Chester, up North for a week, wife was working all day, I just pottered about with kid, very impressed with the area, thought up there would be all miserable. Found a place called Cheshire Oaks, a chavvy outlet shopping place, but must say there was some nice stuff in there as well as the chav nonsense. Also popped to Wales to see welsh people, went to Snowdonia, very nice area, stopped in Betws y coed but that was just tourist stuff although lovely views, had a fantastic meal in a Welsh pub.

I didn't realise that my hotel was in Wales as everyone spoke normally, apparently I was just over the border, it was very nice but a week in the hotel leisure centre does your brain in, just had to get out and about. Chester Zoo was brilliant but 1/3 shut as now classed as off season, but kid loved it Very Happy

Someone else wanted to see some shots with an iPad, but yes you can just use a different holder for the iPhone. Ram makes quite a few different holders including ones that would fit the iPhone. Proclip also makes another mount for the D4 that will attach up by the instrument cluster, if you want the phone at that level.

Hi,

I put the holder in the cup holder. Here is a quite detailed install guide - but in german. But Google may help. Wink

The pictures will do the job too. Also to find in my gallery.

It depends if you use the little hole thing above the left hand 12volt socket to the left of the gear lever but I put my IPhone 4 in a silicon case over this hole wedged with the socket cover, sits quite nicely and it doesn't move about at all! I can take photos tomorrow if this will help?

Stuart

Thanks for the photos of the iPad install. Exactly what I was looking for . Looks like the passenger isn't too affected by the mounting either.

One last question... Is it east to remove the cradle from the ball mount as you show in your first photo? Would be handy to stash the cradle when not needed.

(sorry for going a bit off topic here)

Thanks very much! That's putting last years Christmas present, a Nikon D700 & 24-70mm f/2.8, to good work. Didn't even need to use the flash. An awesome camera and great fun to use. Very Happy

Richard,

The double socket arm really allows a great deal of adjustment and keeps out of the passenger's way. Although they do have a tendency to flip it around and "take over" the iPad on occasion. Wink

Removing the holder is very quick and easy as well. There's just a tension screw/t-handle used to loosen & tighten when adjusting the position. You just loosen all the way and the whole setup comes off the mountain ball. I keep it off and stored in the driver's side door pocket when I won't be using the iPad. Just need to make sure it doesn't lodge up against the power seat adjustment. Had it do that once while I was driving, and it reclined the driver's seat nearly all the way back. Shocked

This photo shows the adjustment arm attached to the holder.
