Immobiliser issue…what is going on? |
|
Well...that takes the cake.
Finally got my faults taken care of thanks to corroded wiring (brake switch not getting power, etc.) was bundling everything back up on the passenger side (drivers side too) and then this happens.
Symptoms:
Key goes in, turns but all I get is clicking from the passenger side. No engine turnover...nothing.
When turning the key in the ignition,I get what i am assuming is the doors lock/unlock (but not sure they actually do) but something "clicks" like that.
Take out the gap tool...
Get a U0167-00 - Lost Communication with the vehicle immobilizer control.
Key unlocks vehicle just fine...
Also… cannot get the key out. And have to disconnect battery to get it out.
What could I have disturbed in the bundle of wires?
Is there a fuse that may have blown? If so which one?
Something isn't happy - either no power to the unit or a ground issue.
THoughts? Trouble shooting?

Check the charge level of the battery, it could be depleted enough to cause a non-start condition but everything else 'seemingly' works fine.

I would go battery again!
Had similar problem myself recently.. if it’s clicking it’s battery! Changed battery problem solved.. mine did exactly the same and everything else appeared to work fine..

All good suggestions. None of them worked.
Battery has been charged and is good.
So -
The blinking red light on the dash remains even with key in
The key is locked into the ignition until I disconnect the battery.
There is clicking from somewhere in the dash. Solenoid?
There is a “lock/unlock” noise when turning the key but the locks do not seem to
Lock.

Where is this mobilizer unit located?
I’m wondering if either it’s not getting power or it’s not ground.
Anyone aware of the colour of the wires that I should be Looking at on the right hand door sill (where is was mucking about earlier) ?

I wonder if the solenoid noise in the gearshift park release solenoid. You could probably feel it if you rest your hand on the PRND

Solved.
Easy really, but perhaps a lesson to anyone else.
Check your plugs/connectors - green and grey under the dash.
Mine was loose. And not fully plugged in

What grey and green plug you are talking about?
I have very similar issue, found the floor damage under the carpet because of water, had to lift wires to fix it and found some wire splices all corroded. Tried to fix it, battery has been disconnected for about 2 weeks, now car does not start, Immobilizer communication code as you had.
