A mix of various driving shows 26-27mpg on the display, but on filling up from the light being on it worked out to nearer 22mpg Over the last few tanks I never get more than 380 miles before the light comes on. I've got the BAS eco tune as well. Saying that I am quite heavy with the right boot at times and have MTR's fitted all the time.
Also my typical journey to and from work is only 15miles/20mins of 'B' roads which will not help

That's 60-70 more miles per tank than I've ever got. Coffeecup

Sorry, I know it´s been discussed before. But is the D3 most efficient when driving at revs near max torque (around 2000) or when driving at highest gear possible with lowest possible revs?
My experience is not to allow the engine to slog in an over high gear.
I get best economy by maintaining revs in the range 2,000 to 3,000 - 2009 MY TDV6 Manual.

Over the last 2300 miles I have averaged 31.5 mpg. 2008.5 XS Auto running on whatever fuel I can find. About 200 miles were with a Thule roofbox on and about 180 miles of single carriageway A roads. The rest is a motorway and dual carriageway slog from Poole to Staines or Poole to Southampton Airport mostly at 70-80 mph. The last 500 miles have been with the roofbox off but the ProRack Whispbars still fitted.

Ive just taken Mrs BAS to work in her own D3, when i got in it the MPG clock was showing 29.7MPG.
I said to her how long has it been showing that, she answerd it is always arround that, it varys from 27 to 32 ish.
I took it with a pinch of salt to be honest considering she drives hard ish round town up in the rev range, but it was showing a respectable figure when i first got in it.
When i got back from dropping her off i had coverd a steady 15 mile round trip i managed to get it down to about 22MPG LOL.
She does defenetly drive harder than me round town, making the car rev a lot higher than i personally would.
so it would seem labouring the engine to try and save fuel does actually use more fuel in some cases.
