Improving Oregon ActionCam mount options

Decided I wanted to be able to mount my Oregon ActionCam on my MonsterPod (after run-in with metro plod) but unfortunately the ActionCam has a totally non-standard mounting system - out on the web ridiculous sums of money are asked for a convertor.... so I sorted my own out for precisely zero pence...

Here's the existing mount thread - large and unique (sorry about blurred picture)

Turning over the mounting plate adaptor (which goes between camera and handlebar or helmet mounting bits reveals a plastc box affair which with judicious use of a stanley knife and sharp narrow chisel on one of the cross pieces allows a captive nut of the correct thread to be araldited into it

All done and the whole lot simply screws onto MonsterPod (or any other device with a standard camera mount thread)

Nut face is flush with adaptor face so it will still fit in the handlebar mount

Nothing special technically but just a nice bodgit and fixit for a Saturday afternoon Thumbs Up

That will teach them a lesson for not using the standard thread for their mountings.

Question about the MonsterPod.

Presume it will stick to dash and hold a standard small camcorder fairly securely?

packaging claims 560g but thats for when its stuck vertically on a tree Rolling with laughter

my KM Z5 is a heavy beasty - weighs more than that

and its ALWAYS a struggle peeling the monsterpod after the dash after even only 10 minutes

so yes for a small camcorder I'd say you'd be OK

I've had a Pentax SLR on mine when in a hurry (don't ask about the humpback bridge and how high you can fly a D3....).
