My disco 3 has, apparently, a problem with an injector. It has done 70,000 miles and is an 06. Two injectors were clogged up and replaced. One works but No6 dose not. Garage saying it might need an engine/head de-coke which is hideously expensive as the body needs to come off.
Is there any other way of de-coking and is it likely to be the problem as it seems odd to me on a car such as this?
thanks

I am not aware of this ever occuring before? More likely there is another problem affecting the injectors. No.1 suspect has to be the possibility of a misfuel?
I am sure there are others on here who might have a more detailed explanation. have you got any pictures of the fouled injectors?

injector
Hi
Thanks or the reply. I don’t sorry. i am told by my garage that both new injectors work but not in No 6 socket (sorry not technically minded). When you say 'mis-fuel do you mean bad diesel or something else. When the problem occurred, the car seemed to lose power and it was almost like the ABS was on constantly. Instinct tells me it is not a chocking up issue.
I am told they are waiting fro a ‘pressure tester’ but why I don’t know.
Thanks

Well, I am not an expert but if the injector works on another position, its not the injector. Could be a wiring problem. It might be time to cut your losses and get it to a main dealer, or a knowledgable independant of which we know a few.
Whereabouts in the country are you?

Injector / coked up problem
Thanks. Based in Lichfield car at Hi-Range. We have accepted the injectors are not at fault and oddly the wiring is next on the list for investigation. It seems odd that the car ‘flew’ cack from Heathrow and then ground to an almost halt.

If there is a fault with an injector, there maybe a fault code stored. Have you had the fault codes read?
