A-Plan includes "Total Loss Plus" which is worth £40, and increases the payout by 25% over the insurance valuation in the event of a total loss. A Plan also include keycover
NFU covers trailer (not caravan) upto £1000, NFU also offers new for old on cars up to 2 years old, but mine is now over 2 so not included. NCD protection is included with NFU
Co-OP is basic insurance, but when it comes to Euro travel, Uninsured losses etc. it is comparable.
Ok, I will have to shop around again in 12 months probably, but its a hell of a difference!
What would you do?

If you have a history of claims then go for the more expensive one - if you haven't ever/seldom claimed then the Co-opy will do. Just my twopence worthStew,

It is tricky as the temptation is to go with the cheapest option, but could prove a mistake if a claim is needed. However, given it is the Co-op I think I would be willing to trust them.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the NFU, but simply because they wouldn't cover me as I don't live in a rural enough location! I thought Cornwall would be rural enough for them!
A-Plan I have been happy with and they currently insure mine and two houses and have always been great, even during a claim on one of the buildings insurance policies (shame AXA the actual insurer were totally useless though).
Anyway, a long winded way of saying Co-op!Andy

I know that this doesn't help much now, but I passed my IAM motorcycle test last year and now get access to the IAM only insurers for both my bike and car.
50 year old male, Cornwall, £27,000 FL2 HSE Lux, 13/63 Reg. Full NCD, 10,000 miles private & 20,000 class 1 business use per annum, £250 Excess.
£265 per annum!
Well worth considering passing the test for the insurance policies alone! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

I would personally go NFU have had nothing but excellent service from them for the past three years including numerous claims - they do our personal & commercial insurances and we have 60 vehicles insured with them so I do know about claims - sadlyPreviously those that have a special place in my heart

I have been an IAM member for 16 years, but as they were rubbish when I first passed I had never bothered to try them again, looks like I should.Andy

NFU as been with them for 5 years or so, they are happy with a list of mod's as long as your arm and are not the cheapest but not too bad. And as can be seen from my location I don't exactly live in the sticks.
Oh, and that isn't my house in the location map. Unfortunately.

I have been with LRI in the past, but because I always shop around, they became uncompetitive at renewal.
Seems to be the norm these days - Have an introductory deal, gain a few new policies (which will auto renew in a years time) then hike the price at renewal and rely on the hiked up renewals for people that don't look around to make the profit.
Personally, I'd be happy with A-plan or NFU. Looking at those, I'd say, if you deduct the Total Loss Plus, the main difference is the protected NCD with NFU (something I'd always go for) but presumably this can be added to the A-plan one so both are much on a par?
I'm with NFU now, was with A-plan previously. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
