Insurance - Frizzell
Hi again,
Just getting insurance quotes for the switch to a D3.
We currently have three vehicles insured with Frizzell and the annual premiums are pretty competitive when I shop around.
Renewal time is January so still quite a long term to run.
I asked for a quote to change the S reg BMW 520SE Touring we have to the brand new D3 HSE.
The quote for change from June 1st is less than £30 - very impressed!
Also the operator also told me that the policy (Liverpool Victoria) automatically includes new for old insurance on brand new cars for the first 12 months - equivilent to GAP insurance by the sounds of it, and included.
Pretty good deal by the sound of it.

Take a look at NFU as you get 2 years GAP included along with off road cover... worth a peek / quote

I'm also with Frizzzle [Livic] and yes, I reckon I got a damn good deal.
£389 for FC Business use.
stuck with them for last 5 years.

if ever there was a case for going to specsavers .... !!!

I try not to mislead anyone mate... the truth hurts, but hey ! Ya got what ya get, so I live with it.... could do with a shave though and maybe contacts.

Also insured through Frizzell - damn good deal, they also cover you fully comp. for courtesy cars which saves you a tenner when your D3 is in for service £360 inc. A1 business use and second driver (Dom ) no cost for green cards either
Frizzell is part of the Liverpool Victoria Group, who are my main client at present. You're covered for greenlane offroad use and neccessary offroad use on private land or land not generally accessible to the public too, although not for Pay'n'Play, which is the 4x4 equivalent of a track-day for something sportier.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. A) a Broughrood trip

Not a chance Slimer, sorry . They don't cover track days or pay to enter offroad sites and having spoken with the underwriters and seen some pricing data I can fully understand why! Firstly, they would need to launch a new product as to include the cover in generic policies would make them uncompetitive for the 99/9% of their customers who don't need this cover. So assuming they launched this very niche product, the premiums would be pretty special, there would be big excesses and exclusions and they wouldn't sell many policies. Those who bought the policies would feel pretty aggrieved at the claims stage when the size of the excesses came home to roost (insurance customers tend to be pretty relaxed about huge excesses right up to the point when they have to pay them) and the group would lose the customers. Once a customer leaves an insurer there is very little chance of them ever returning.
All told, a bit of a hiding to nothing.
To be fair, most of us who take our cars on these sort of courses know the risks and make a judgement on whether we want to take them. If I saw anything on a route that I thought would seriously endanger my vehicle I simply wouldn't do it. I certainly wouldn't take on something risky just because I had insurance for it! Because of the speeds we travel at when offroad the chance of a serious impact with another vehicle is small and most knocks are nothing more than cosmetic. If you took full offroad cover and claimed for every bramble scratch you'd soon find you couldn't get insurance.....
I was perfectly happy driving at Boughrood as it was a controlled environment, vehicle speeds were low and I had confidence in the vehicle and the company I was in. Not sure I'd feel the same way if I found myself in similar terrain on a general P&P site with a bunch of yee-haws in cut-down hi-luxes with 4" lifts and oversize tyres, hence I stick to D3 events rather than more generic weekend warrior sites.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Also at certain off road sites you have mates that will always drag you to the nearest road and push you into the appropriate position so you'll be on-road
Or of course say that no one paid and it was a free drive around day and non competitive.
