I wouldn't use Admiral again...
Admiral might entice you in with cheaper quotes but if you have to contact them they only use expensive phone line rates ...their free online submission portal is never working...really expensive if you have to change details...like address...my wife's insurer doesn't charge and other charges are ridiculous...and the lovely customer service people who take your money change into dragons if you dare complain....they are told to read out lots of unnecessary information when you ring to keep you on the phone...told by one of their customer service staff...beware!

I am with Admiral, Im 25, with a 2005 SE D3 and this year, with no NCB (as i touched a another car in a traffic jam and left a yellow mark on his bumper with my winch hook) and with mods included, it cost me £580 this year.
Last year with 2yrs NCB it was £650 fully comp'
I think thats not bad.
I also have only ever paid £17.50 for change of detials etc and
However, this is where it becomes silly. On comparethemeerkat the cheapest quote was £1200, confused manged £680, Admiral rang me to re-quote for this year at £1100, then a day later a letter from them saying I could have it at £900 (£200 cheaper)...
So rang elephant (the cheapest on confused) and it turns out they are admrial... So was going to pay £680 and they suddenly dropped it to £580 for me. Win i think!
Where the hell they get their prices from however, I have no idea!!!2inch Lift, 33inch Cooper STTs, Wheel Spacers, Hidden Champion 9000lbs Winch with recovery points, Full Underbody Protection including Rear Bumper Guard, Rock Sliders, Snorkel, 4x4 screen enabled and Sat Nav on the move (thanks to Bodsy), Discreet LED roof lights, LED work light, BAS Re-map and EGR's blanked, V8 Brake upgrade with Grooved, Drilled and Slotted Brakes, Halo Fog Lamps, Roof Rack, 240V Inverter, CB radio and finally a Swing away wheel carrier with Hi-Lift mount...
An update on this. Just renewed, the renewal premium started at £1900 (!) and after negotiation and managerial intervention settled at £1310. D3 £270; A8 £240; Daughter's Clio £800
So, not too bad but not a great experience.____

Just had my renewal with Admiral and they want £440 (gulp). A quick search and negotiation got this down to £310 with a low excess, European cover, legal, extended courtesy car, protected NCB etc. The fine print of some of the 'cheaper' quotes excluded items such as the glass roof and limited the courtesy car to 48hrs. It pays to check the small writing….
It was £270 last year when the car was worth £54k so not sure why the hike is so large.
Still, it is cheaper than the tax disc.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

My Admiral renewal arrived today (well email) £490 so will be calling A-plan due to being fed up of Admiral's high call costs etc.

Hi
Off road ?
Is that in a field or greenlane?
If greenlane then they would be braking the law as many housing estates have the same status as alot of greenlanes, like being unadapted, and ucr's.
Just because some have tarmac and some do not, does not change the legal classifaction of a highway.
