Insurance renewal premium.
I have just received my renewal notice from Land Rover Motor Insurance. 45% INCREASE in the premium. After a phone call increase reduced to 31%. LRMA say that increase is due the fact I had a new D3 2008 model instead of an 05 model, exactly same spec. and that there are now 50 bands or groups of insurance. Still seems a big increase to me. No points on licence, no claims for about 5 years.
Any suggestions for an alternative quote? Norwich Union and NFU do not like me --- too old 70+ and well +

I'd been with NFU for about 6 years, premium had gone up this year even though nothing (me or the car) had changed. This year moved to Adrian Flux, over £100 cheaper.

Further to my earlier post I have now scoured various comparison sites, made numerous phone calls and have got a quote of £305 from LV = Frizzells. Some what less the LR ins at £565 although have squeezed them down to £429. Cover seems comparable but waiting for the written details.
Does anyone have any experience of Fizzells LV (ie Liverpool Victoria)?

Hi Thub, no experience of LV/Frizzel but, if you are using off-road, you may want to check what they actually cover. When I changed from D1 to D3 I checked fine print carefully and finally went fully comp with NFU including off road and 2 years 'new for old' cover all in. Cheapest quote was AIG at about £180 fully comp with NCP

Bit OT but just had sons insurance renewal through from Norwich Union - £1200. shopped around and best quote was £875 from More Than, went onto Norwich Union Direct last night just to see if they still came in at £1200 and amazed to get a quote for £790! rang them this morning to pay and they dropped it to £745! Pays to re-quote rather than just accept initial premium.D3 TDV6SE

Hi Thub,
Try Saga Ins (for old folk) I found them to be pretty competative £350 Business use and you get to talk to someone on the phone!!!!!!!!!Women are like swimming pools, very expensive for the amount of time you spend in them!
