on the pre production car the seat was quite happily moving with my 9 year old daughter still on it. we questioned the safety and were told the production cars would be a lot "safer". Same with the boot it trapped her and wasn't stopping sales guy had to grab it. I also asked what would happen if you used the app and still had the rubber boot mat in or a load a cr@p in the boot, i didn't get a straight answer as to how it would handle it but we all agreed presumably it would still try and then report back to your phone it cant do it in the final production cars.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

The question is, does anyone really need this?
If the objective is to make the D5 more environmentally friendly by using aluminim and smaller engines, why is LR adding weight and complexity with powered seats etc.
It just seems a a bit daft and something else to go wrong, and we all know about LR and electrics. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

agree its an utter waste especially for the 3rd row deployment. how many of us keep the boot completely free of cr@p and don't have any kind of loadspace protection or load barrier? because if you do you aint gonna be able to flip the 3rd row up remotely. I think the powered seat fold is a great idea. Like any option it will not appeal to all but this one is a much-needed feature and for once the price is not stupid. There are quite a few on this forum who have physical limitations and I have helped to modify a number of forum D3/D4s to make them just a little easier to live with.
If features such as these enable more people to fully utilise their vehicles without home-made solutions then I am all for it. Indeed, I would like designers to go further with the small revisions needed to make the lives of those that need just a little more help a whole lot easier.

It is a good point some will find it useful some won't. I would like to see it as an option on all models rather than standard on some. if I order one it's likely to be a HSE Luxury and that's the one luxury I could really do with out MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Several years ago I supported an event where those with physical limitations got to meet with vehicle designers. The groundswell of opinion on both sides was that the design tweaks required were relatively simple and most would also appeal to full-mobility or at lease not detract from the vehicle.
One of the simplest ideas was to repeat functions like EPB and gear selector on the opposite side to the centre console in the same way that mirror and window controls are. Others, such as moving central locking controls to the door (so accessible from a sitting position outside the vehicle), can now be seen on many different vehicles (inc D4). Adjusting seats with physical limitations was a consistent topic. Seeing a seat designer fully appreciate how adjusting a headrest was just impossible for a chap with arthritic hands was sobering.

I hear where you're coming from, but I doubt any of that was the reason for doing reomote electric seat activation. It would have been marketing pure and simple.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

Maybe, but the motives could have been genuine as designers do like to solve problems once aware of them.
Those that are less able tend to be those that make the least noise about it. One commented that designers had made more effort understanding what happened to pedestrians when being knocked-down by their product than considering accesability.

Having watched my wife remove the the dog cage and divider, and then proceed to to try a fold the rear seats, I had to intervene when she was trying to force the seat to go to its lowered position before the seat back was tipped fully forward. Also, my car needs a fair amount of force on the various handles and straps, in the right order, to successfully raise the seats. Electric is the way forward

Electrically adjustable wing mirrors were frivolous at one time.
Why waggle some buttons when you could move it with your hand!!

Not too fussed about the folding seats but can see the benefits of it.
One thing on a wish list would be foot swipe boot opening activation. Pals got it on his Ford Edge and is very handy with a handful of toot.Last of the D4 HSE...
