Do any one know how to make the interior lights behave like those of a normal car. I find that if I open the car door the lights come on (fine) but that if I get out and close the door the lights stay on until I lock the car. Of course, I can turn them off manually each time by pressing the centre switch on the overhead light cluster but I was wondering whether any of the Forum experts could suggest a better solution. The point is that it is a little inconvemient (but not a disaster, of course) having the lights on all the time the car is simply left unlocked.
Any thoughts gratefully received.

That doesn't seem right - my lights go off when I close the doors whether I lock them or not

My '06 TDV6 does exactly the same - which is the reaon I installed LED lights, and eventually the dual battery with start assist. The lighths and the nav screen stay on for quite a few minutes after you close the door. Irritating when you are in the bush with a bunch of kids in and out the car

Interesting. When I take the key out the sat nav screen switches off but the interior lights stay on until I lock it. Another example of the Land Rover "random quirkiness programme".

The lights go off after 30 secs or so anyway, why worry. Wont drain your battery.
Even if you leave the doors open they will go off after a short period.

not so for my vehicle! When you open a door the lights and screen stay on for about 10 minutes after the door is closed.

Exactly - mine don't go off. I tried last evening resetting from "auto" to "off" a couple of times but the problem is still there. Not a mjor problem but it means I do have to remeber not to leave the car unlocked for any length of time unless I turn the interior lights off manually.

On mine, if you unlock and open the car without starting it, then yes the lights/screen stay on for about 10 minutes after the last door shuts, even if you re-lock it. If you unlock/start/stop/lock it's about 30 seconds.
If you want to fool what appears to be a design feature, you can turn the key to position 2 (without starting) and take it back out before locking. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
