Intermittent limp mode
Hi all
Bought my disco knowing it had intermittent limp mode problem. It’s had new high & low pressure fuel pumps fitted and egr’s mapped out (although still in place but not connected), brake light switch has also been changed. Also been serviced but not sure it’s a genuine LR fuel filter (“fuel manager” printed on side).
Have bought the gap iid tool and cleared faults and following limp mode last night have the following codes(attached)
Any ideas on what to do next ?
Thanks

Good luck havnt cured mine in 6 months nothing left to change and it still does it. Make a note of those codes they will change at random the p0087 low fuel.pressure is how the car puts its self into get you home mode is my understanding and can be misleading.

What age vehicle, if its 2007 onwards it could be a dry solder joint on the dash circuit board

Yeah it's a 58 plate cross over build meaning it has a lot of D4 stuff but is a D3 commercial. Have found a fair few difference to what I expected to find.

Have a search for faulty dashes and see if it sounds like your issue.
Its quite a common issue where the lead free solder cracks around the main connector block, usually at the top where the wiring loom places the most strain. Unfortunatley the top wires are the canbus wires and if you break the circuit the modules cant communicate with each other and throw up lots of error codes from all around the car.
Totaltronics in Rugby are highly recomended on here for repairs

Having stripped the dash down and split the speedo console into many bits and Bob's I resoldered the pins to the green connect even tho they all looked good......reasembled and it's still the same.
Will keep looking

there are a number of posts on that fault. you need to start from LPFP all the way to HPFP and start looking all components, fuel filter, in tank pump, HP sensor and finally HPFP.
most of the cases was a HPFP.

It's back p0087 and limp mode.
This has been an epic one and thought it cured after swopping the fuel rail pressure sensor x4 times. Cheap Ebay ones send the car into limp mode instantly x1 would fault at start up. Refitted the original back in the winter and all was good until now.
This fault is external temp sensitive anything over 10 degrees causes it to fault with p0087 fuel pressure low. It's not low. Have swopped out the fuel rail and sensor again all seemed good for a few days then faulted.
Recap so far.
Hpfp replaced
Lpfp replaced
Injectors tested
Fuel filter swopped
Dash pinnacle stripped and checked
Ecus removed cleaned checked
Fuses boxes removed inspected cleaned
Brake switched swopped
brake lights swopped
Many many hours spent testing electrics
Suspension pump serviced
Etc etc
Car performs perfectly during cold weather no faults at all with the warmer weather above 10 degrees on the dash and warm engine limp mode.
Arrghhhhhhhhhh

Perhaps a cracked solder joint that expands when the weather gets warmer?
Could run an oscilloscope on the can bus and monitor for any anomalies.

Fixed.
I can finish this off now as our int limp mode low fuel pressure fault is cured..........hpfp.
Yes this was the 1st thing changed with a new euro crap replacment hpfp which it seems has been leaking from the seal at the shaft. Still under warrenty they are refusing the labour claim and said they cant confirm the faulty pump is faulty so it will go back on the shelf in stock for the next unfortunate person.
Have pictures of the scope readings g from the pump will post up if any use can clearly see 600psi improvement on fuel pressure at idle.
