Intermittent loss of power |
|
Hi all,
Sometimes when driving and accelerating. All of a sudden the car will stop accelerating, it feels almost as if the brake has been pressed.
Pressing the accelerator down further does nothing. If I lift foot off the pedal and press down again all is OK and the car is fine.
No warning lights come up, no engine sputter.
Car can be fine for a week and then one day do this 3 or 4 times on one journey.
Any thoughts?
Car is a disco 4 2012 3.0 sdv6
Many thanks in advance

Might be silly question but.... are you catching the edge of the brake pedal slightly with your accelerator foot ? I've done it when wearing wider workboots. Doesn't take much pressure at all to have an effect on the car. Gary

Unfortunately no. It has happened with myself driving and my wife driving.
It's been doing it off/on for about a month now.
I did find out today that the brake lights are intermittently staying on but I don't see how that would be related to this issue.
A replacement brake light switch is arriving tomorrow.

On most cars now, when you press the brake, the fuelling is reduced as a safety precaution.
So if your brake lights are staying on then ecu thinking you are braking therefore loss of power.
