Intermittent TPMS

Hi everyone

I have had TPMS from new on my 2007 HSE.

For a couple of years now I have had the issue of at least 1, and now 2, sensors working intermittently.

When they go off, it might be for just 10 miles or for 50, but eventually it'll start monitoring again. Generally only 1 is not being monitored at a time.

Can anyone suggest a fix for this issue as the info centre messages and the light on the main instrument display get a bit annoying?

I’d replace all the TPMS valves for starters. On the basis that the batteries will be on there way out. Beware though as you’ll have the earlier type of valve. Thumbs Up

Thanks LT. Didn't realise that they had batteries in. Do now!

Will order a set of 5. Any suggestions as to where best to get them from?

Wherever you get them from, they need to be activated. Most of the new ones on eBay, even the ones that say genuine Land Rover are not activated and are in sleep mode. You can’t activate them unless you (or a garage) have the tool. It’s also worth making a note of the serial numbers/code and location before the garage fit them. That way if you need to manually input the details, you don’t need to remove the tyres.

What should happen is, they get fitted, you drive for 15 minutes at above 10mph and the receiver picks up the signal and the warnings extinguish. If they’re not activated, your warning never extinguishes.

Presumably if you have one fitted to your spare tyre as I do, you need to mount that spare on the car and take it for a spin so it starts to register. I had three new TMPS fitted today and I'm still getting the 'check the spare tyre pressure' warning, which is annoying ....

I think if you get your tyres changed by a tyre dealer they have the kit to reactivate the TPM I know "home tyre" can do it.btw I have found you get a better deal on tyres with a tyre fitter that comes to you.
