Intermittent traction control issue |
|
Hi folks long time no post,
I have a strange issue with my 2006 HSE auto. When I accelerate (fairly firmly) from stationary I get juddering and loss of power. Sometimes the traction control light comes on then goes off, but the juddering doesn’t stop unless I come off the accelerator completely. The juddering stops and then when I reapply the accelerator it works just fine.
It happens when pulling out of junctions sometimes, but more regularly if I have wheels on loose surface like grass or gravel. Otherwise the gearbox works just fine all the times. Gentle acceleration does. It seem to cause it.
Garage says there are no fault codes but have kind of given up! Anyone have any bright ideas please? I’ve been told it could be traction control sensors but don’t know how to tell.
Thanks,
Matt

You could try disabling DSC and put the vehicle into sand mode in terrain response, should allow greater slip (though I don't believe you can disable TC completely? happy to be corrected). If exactly the same thing happens then it would be unlikely to be TC in my opinion... just an idea. If it happens less or stops completely, then might be a TC issue?

Do the revs fluctuate when it does this? Do you tow any kind of trailer at all ? suspect it might be down to the Torque Convertor, also check your tyre pressures just to be sure... I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

yes check tyre pressure, and tyre sizes are all the same
the steering angle sensor may need calibration
also check the left wheels isn't hotter than the right after a drive (a sign calipers are siezed)

Hi, no rev changes just the really rapid vibration. I’ll check the tyre pressures.
Thank you.
