Intermittent wiper control

MY2012 D4. The wiper stalk has three main parts to it. Does the middle bit actually do anything? I'm talking about the min - max sleeve. It appears to neither control the front of the back and whoever designed the automatic wiper control doesn't have the same tolerance to water on the screen as I do.

Not much changed there then from the 2010 models! Seems to work sometimes, the auto wipers....

the min / max certainly should rotate and vary the sensitivity/rate of the auto wipers but only - obviously - when auto is selected. Otherwise it has no effect.

At least, that's how it works on mine.

The sensativity control DOES work on my 2012MY and it does make a difference. BUT like everything controlled by a very tiny man living in a plastic component on your windscreen it is variable Rolling with laughter

Seems to depend on the type of rain - bit like snow/leaves types with British Rail Laughing I do use it quite a lot.

It does Bu Censored er all to the rear wiper though - a sadly missing feature on a £50k car Crying or Very sad

Is 'Max' the sensitivity or time between strokes ?

ie which will work better during occasional drops of rain ?

I really haven't found a big difference between either ?

Confused

It's the sensativity, it's definitely not a time setting (it's only a time setting on vehicles without the autosensor- same as on the Jags) - I definitely find a difference when it's drizzle type rain i.e. small droplets (hence my quip re BR snow and leaves)- Takes more of these to coat the sensor enough to fire it off - so more sensativity seems to make it wipe when there is less rain coating the screen. Seems to me to be quite a difference in the effect most times.

I find it does make a bit of difference to the sensitivity -, for the right kind of rain. Rolling Eyes

And don't forget that it interacts with the auto-on/off lights so you may well get a better reponse with that selected. Or is it the other way around? Confused

For what it's worth. It also has a further adjustment in the CCF , so if you have a fault mate or are getting some settings changed (by Wiggs etc), you can make it more or less sensitive than it currently is.
