Inverny bluetooth won't connect to iPhone

I've just bought an Inverny bluetooth receiver which plugs into the iPod connector in the centre armrest.

It powers up, but my iPhone won't recognise it.

Before I send it back, has anyone else had an issue like this? Any solutions gratefully received!
