Voltage is the same on all USB chargers (5 volts) the difference is the iPad needs a higher current. The adapters that can support this will be marked 2 Amps or 2.1A or something like that.
If you have a Maplin store anywhere near then this one works fine too:
(Don't buy the one that looks the same for half the price that's just 1 Amp - it won't charge an iPad!)
Also some phones (HTC Desire is one) will charge much faster on a high-current USB socket if you use the right kind of cable which has the two data pins shorted together.

I use the same Maplin one, does iPhone 4 & iPad nicely. When I bought it ISTR it was a few pounds, not £12.
